Principal contracts awarded
Several development concepts were submitted to the coordination office for the Frigg project for consideration.
By the summer of 1972, the operator had an outline plan ready. This envisaged two platforms for drilling and one each for treatment, quarters and compression.
Elf had a very small project organisation, and accordingly had to give considerable latitude to the two engineering consultancies which had secured the main contracts. They were not only management and engineering contractors, but also suppliers.
McDermott became the main contractor for management, technical design and control of all the steel platforms, while Brown & Root covered management, technical design and control of the links between these installations.
