Many different stories were told about him, including his birth from nine mothers and his gold teeth. He was known as the “White God”. Heimdal is the god who blows the Gjallarhorn before Ragnarok, the final battle, and who guards the rainbow bridge Bifrost. The Eddic poems also name him as the ancestor of the three estates: slaves, farmers and nobles.
